With these challenges lying ahead, we decided to develop a safety barrier system that reduces and almost eliminates the plant/person interface and fall prevention risk when carrying out maintenance or major refurbishment works on railway station platforms. A plant/person interface is still recognised as one of the key fatal risks within the railway and needs to be addressed to improve railway safety across the UK & Europe.
Based on these principles we developed the Platform Edge Protection safety barrier system providing sufficient strength to resist the lateral force of someone falling against it and on to the tracks or into the path of road rail vehicles passing through a work-site, thus preventing serious injury and even death.
