National statistics published in September 2020 by the Office of Rail & Road (ORR), reported that there were 130 major injuries sustained by the rail workforce during the period 2019/2020, with 53 being caused by slips, trips and falls, 7 due to platform edge accidents and 5 due to manual handling and awkward body movement accidents. The statistics also show that the UK rail workforce sustained a further 5099 minor injuries as result of accidents at work.
